Main purpose or Mission Statement: Bring quilters together for fellowship
and sharing quilting problems and successes. Main purpose or Mission Statement: To foster community activities for the development of the community as a whole through civic and social events that will help in promoting the area. Meetings: Second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Sponsor the Easter Movie; Community Wide Rummage Sale Day (May); Yard of the Week (Memorial Day-Labor Day); Glow Ball Golf Tournament (late Aug); Craft Show (Third Sunday in Oct); Football Hamburger Night; Snow Queen Festival (first Saturday in Nov); Light Judging Contest (Dec); coordinate parade at the annual Christmas on Parade Festival; Babysitting Clinic (every three years); welcome visits to new community residents, and other fundraising events as scheduled. BAC donates all of the money raised to various community organizations and projects. Meetings: As needed. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Coordinate boys and girls teams (Teeball through Teeners) throughout the summer; sponsor tournaments (hopefully more with the new complex); fundraising efforts are mainly through concessions, donations and registration. Contact Person: Laura Olsen Main purpose or Mission Statement: The Britton Community Theatre provides an outlet to showcase talent in the area of live theatrical production. It also brings people together from different and various backgrounds in an atmosphere of fun and relaxation. Meetings: As needed for Fall Production and Fort Sisseton melodramas. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Fall Production (a.k.a., Dinner Theatre, Oct. or Nov.); Fort Sisseton melodramas (1st weekend in June); assist with Missoula Children’s Theatre and the 4-H Performing Arts; and usually host an Annual Meeting. well-maintained, competitive nine hole golf course at an affordable cost. BRITTON-LANGFORD SOCCER LEAGUE Main purpose or Mission Statement: To offer youth the opportunity to learn and compete in the game of soccer. Meetings: As needed. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Coordinate spring and fall soccer sessions; host a tournament in Britton which also serves as the main fundraiser; line up games for competition with area communities. Contact Person: Melody Wenz BRITTON MEN’S BOWLING ASSOCIATION Main purpose or Mission Statement: Offer men the opportunity to competitively bowl on a league. Meetings: One annual meeting to start the season. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Two men’s leagues (Wed & Thursday nights) for 28 weeks during the winter, co-host the Bowling Annual Banquet (April). Contact Person: Chad Bremmon BRITTON SWIM TEAMMain purpose or Mission Statement: To provide a healthy aerobic activity that promotes individual accomplishment and self growth and discipline through a competitive sport from ages 5 to 18 that requires family support and participation with no interested party being turned away due to cost. Meetings: The board meets as needed. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Actual swimming events run from June through August. Fundraising events, such as, hosting a food booth at Fort Sisseton Festival and 3 on 3 basketball tournaments are held from Sept. through May. Meetings: Spring Meeting (Mar.) and Fall Meeting (Aug.). Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Women’s bowling league on Monday and Tuesday nights running from Sept to April; assist with Bowling Annual Banquet. Meetings: Wednesday nights during the summer months. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Sponsor the Jr. Golf program; assist with purchasing things needed at the Country Club; host an annual Ladies Day Tournament (end of July); and assist with other tournaments; host an annual Bridge Party (June) Contact Person: Ena Hicks or Carla Grimsrud BRITTON YOUTH WRESTLING CLUBMain purpose or Mission Statement: To promote wrestling in the Britton community through good sportsmanship in a fun and safe environment. Meetings: As needed. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Coordinate wrestling practices for youth (Dec.-Mar.); inform wrestlers of tournaments; teach and support wrestlers whether at practice or at a tournament; host an annual Britton Youth Wrestling Tournament; and offer a senior wrestler scholarship. Meetings: Monthly. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Britton Rodeo (mid June); Assist with parking cars and hosting the Draft Horse Pull at Fort Sisseton Festival (early June); Fun Day/trail rides (July & Aug); Pancake Feed (Feb. or Mar.); Bull-a-rama for Harvest Days Festival (mid Aug). Contact Person: Mike Smith BRITTON AREA ARCHERYMain purpose or Mission Statement: To offer youth and adults the opportunity to learn archery. Meetings: Wednesday evenings throughout the summer months. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Travel to various tournaments to compete; hope to sponsor a tournament in Britton. Contact Person: Boyd Erickson, Brian Olson or Jeff Oelkers Main purpose or Mission Statement: To save the wetlands and habitat for waterfowl in South Dakota. Meetings: As called by group leaders. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: DU Annual Banquet (2nd Tuesday in Oct). Contact Person: Harvey Thayer FUN AFTER FIFTY SENIOR CLUBMain purpose or Mission Statement: The Britton Fun After Fifty Senior Club was organized to provide a facility for Senior Citizens of the community to gather for social interaction. Meetings: Social events are held the first Monday of each month. The center is located on Main Street in Britton and is open from 8:30-5:00 Monday through Saturday. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: The center offers a physical place for visiting, coffee or participating in cards, pool, exercise, Bingo (every Thursday) and other social activities.
