·WINTER FEST – Sponsored and coordinated by the Britton Area Chamber, this annual event brings about 80 vendors together in the auditorium to showcase products, services and other information to shoppers.   A Health Fair is also part of the event and local entertainment is featured throughout this two-day event.  Winter Fest is usually held in mid March each year.

·RELAY FOR LIFE—The American Cancer Society puts on this very successful fundraiser which also serves as a social gathering.  Hundreds of people (young and old) walk miles around the track field into all hours of the night to help fight cancer by raising money for research, advocacy and medical services.  This is usually held  June 16th 12:00 pm Noon till 12:00 am Midnite at the Britton Track Field in the northwest corner of Britton.  Marshall County placed fourth in the nation for per capita giving in counties with less than 7,000 population and second place in the Midwest Division of the American Cancer Society.  Way to go Marshall County!

 


·PTA CARNIVAL—The Parent/Teacher Association sponsors a fun filled evening designed for kids--but adults have just as much fun!  The auditorium is filled with booths offering games, cake walks, book sales, bingo, face painting, clowns and many, many prizes for everyone.  Food is also provided by local organizations.  This event has being going on for over 20 years and is one of the most popular and well attended events throughout the year in the community.  It is usually held in March.

 


·FORT SISSETON FESTIVAL—Each summer around the first weekend in June, thousands of people visit Fort Sisseton (approximately 25 miles east of Britton) to participate in the two-day celebration of Fort Sisseton’s historic past.  Reenactments of frontier living, crafts, melodramas, real teepees, medicine shows, square dancing, military bands and much, much more are available throughout the weekend.  This is a great experience and learning adventure for the whole family.

·RODEO—The Buckhorn Rodeo coordinates an annual western style rodeo just on the outskirts of Britton.  Hundreds of people come to watch bull riding, roping, clowns and other rodeo entertainment.  This two-day event is held in mid June.

 


·HARVEST DAYS—This late summer event is getting to be more fun each year!  Sponsored by the Britton Area Chamber, locals gather in downtown Britton to eat (sweet corn is the specialty), shop, socialize, watch emergency demonstrations, participate in one of the many activities which run throughout the day (such as a bale rolling contest!?!) and then enjoy the evening with an old fashioned street dance.  You do not want to miss this annual event—usually held the 2nd weekend in August.

·SNOW QUEEN FESTIVAL—Senior and Freshmen girls compete for the Britton Senior and Junior Snow Queen titles each year.  The Britton Action Club hosts this event on the first Saturday in November at the auditorium and is well known for the efforts put towards their outstanding decorating ideas.  The show also features a talent competition and Little Miss & Master pageant.


·COMMUNITY CONCERT—Each year the area church choirs come together (from all congregations) and put on a fantastic Christmas Concert and share in the celebration of the birth of Christ.  The talent of this community definitely shines through at this gathering.  It is coordinated by the Marshall County Ministerium and is usually held around mid December at First Lutheran Church in Britton.



·CHRISTMAS ON PARADE—This unique event is sponsored by the Chamber but is assisted by many of the Britton organizations.  It is a day filled with activities in the middle of December including the Tour of Homes (Cancer Society); Cookie Walk (First Lutheran WELCA); Taste of Christmas (Britton Businesses); Buffalo Chili Feed (Masons); Lighted Float Parade (Britton Action Club); Pictures with Santa, Free kids movie matinae; and the traditional Christmas Story is presented along with cookies and refreshments in the evening.  Truly a day to remember.
