FIRST LUTHERAN—Women of the ELCAMain purpose or Mission Statement: We commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and action, and promote healing and wholeness in the church, the society and the world. Meetings: Monthly (except during the summer). Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Spring and Fall Rummage Sales; Annual Fall Bazaar (Nov.); Annual Cookie Walk (Christmas on Parade Day—Dec.); serve weddings and funerals as needed; coordinate the Prayer Chain; organize the many sub-committees within the ELCA; and assist financially with youth and adults projects within the church. Contact Person: Bev Owen or Carla Grimsrud MARSHALL COUNTY MINISTERIUMMain purpose or Mission Statement: The gathering of the Marshall County clergy to discuss theology and worship. Meetings: First and third Wednesday of each month. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Conducting religious services each Sunday morning, Saturday evenings and throughout the week; Community Christmas Concert (mid Dec); and support other events through participation of local clergy. Vorlage PRESBYTERIAN WOMENMain Purpose of Mission Statement: Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves: to nurture our faith through prayer and bible study, to support the mission of the church world wide, to work for justice and peace, and to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom. Meetings: Quarterly—Third Thursday of the month. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Potato Topper Luncheon (Oct.); Bakeless Bake Sale; New & Used Treasurers Sale; participate in the World Day of Prayer (Mar.); occasionally sponsor the State PWC Gathering (Apr.); May Day Cheer Visits to Shut-ins (May); every several years host the Fall Presbyterian Women District Gathering (Sept.); and serve weddings and funerals as needed. Pearson ROSEHILL WOMEN’S MINISTRIESMain purpose or Mission Statement: Equipping Women for Life: by providing opportunities for spiritual growth and personal growth; for Ministry: by encouraging unity, service and development of leadership; and for Missions: by promoting all outreach ministries and involvement in missionary service. Meetings: First Thursday of each month. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Bible study and white cross work (making supplies for missionaries); coordinate groups for church events (showers-meals-nursing home ministries); coordinate special events for women of the church (craft date-Fall, guest day & Christmas party for church ladies); work with National FCWM to provide funds for a missions project; send crafts to the Lydia’s Home (Free Church sponsored children’s home) for their annual November Bazaar. Meetings: First Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Chili Luncheon (Apr.); assist with October Fest (Oct.); assist with the Taco Dinners which serve as fundraisers; serve weddings and funerals as needed; serve a Senior Supper; and help with other church functions whenever needed. JOHN’S—Lutheran Women’s Missionary LeagueMain purpose or Mission Statement: To assist each woman to become stronger in her faith and express her love of Christ as she serves the Lord in her home, community and in the world. Meetings: Third Monday in Jan., April, July & Oct. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Annual Church Bazaar (Oct.); New Comers Dinner; Confirmation; Graduation Banquet (May); and serve funerals and weddings as needed. Contact Person: Doris Alberts or Sonia Wolf UNITED METHODIST—United Methodist Women (UMW) Main purpose or Mission Statement: To come together as Christian women to combine our talents in giving to missions nationally, internationally and locally; also to share our faith and help our church function efficiently. Meetings: First Wednesday of the month at 8:00 p.m. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Fall Festival with proceeds going to various missions; High School Senior Supper (May); Summer Retreat (1 day) to help grow spiritually; Prepare layette, health and school kits to be used by our national missions; Food, Fun & Fellowship Pot Luck Supper (May) to honor all women of the church and their guest; and serve funerals and weddings as needed. Meetings: First Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: World Day of Prayer (Mar.); Easter Breakfast; Soup N’ Pie (Oct.); Women’s Christmas Guest Night (Dec.); assist with the Food Pantry; serve funerals and serve at Wheatcrest Hills; send literature to International Christian Lit. and support World Wide Missions.
