AREA IV SENIOR NUTRITION

Main purpose or Mission Statement:   To provide nutritional “Meals on Wheels” for the shut-ins.

Meetings:  Meals are provided Monday-Friday, also frozen meals available for weekends.

Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors:  An annual fundraiser is held in May or June; birthday dinners are prepared each month with a decorated table; meals are $2.50 and are approved by a licensed dietitian.

BRITTON AREA HOSPICE

Main purpose or Mission Statement:  To support patients and families during the last stages of death and dying.

Meetings:  As needed.

Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors:  Sponsor and conduct volunteer training sessions and in-service programs for the hospital and nursing home; put on programs for various local organizations.

MARSHALL COUNTY AMBULANCE SERVICE

Main purpose or Mission Statement:  To give the community expedient service in emergent medical need.

Meetings:  Mondays—every four weeks.

Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors: Annual Soup & Sandwich Dinner (Mar 23rd); Training (4th Mon/mo); EMT classes; participate in local parades and Halloween Trick or Treat; on standby at home football games @ Langford and Britton-Hecla, Buckhorn Rodeo and Fort Sisseton celebrations.

MARSHALL COUNTY HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

Main purpose or Mission Statement:  To promote the health and welfare of the people of SD under guidelines proposed and accepted by the SD Assoc. of Healthcare Organizations.

Meetings:  Fourth Tuesday of each month (except June-Aug)

Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors:  Christmas Food Auction (mid Dec); and host the Blood Drive (three or four times a year).

WHEATCREST HILLS VOLUNTEERS

Main purpose or Mission Statement:  To do whatever we can as volunteers to brighten the lives of the residents at Wheatcrest Hills including Bible studies, sing-a-longs, reading the newspaper to the residents, taking the Courtesy Cart around, having Card Pals where the residents are remembered on their birthdays and anniversaries, and visiting residents whenever possible.

Meetings:  Quarterly in January, April, July and October.

Projects or events this organization coordinates or sponsors:  Help with bingo (various times throughout the year); assist with Nursing Home Week (starts on Mother’s Day); decorate doors and assist with the Halloween Door to Door Adventure; present a Christmas program and share cookies; offer a Courtesy Cart allowing residents to buy snacks or fruit.
